But, above all, get in touch with Modern Sicily, based on work, innovation and understated elegance.

THE STORY OF AN EXCELLENT SICILIAN WINE.

The most important milestones of Baglio di Pianetto,
the choices and experiences that have led us today to offer a unique wine production.

1997

Count Paolo Marzotto establishes Baglio di Pianetto, transforming his love for Sicily and wine into a carefully tended viticultural system and cutting-edge winery, capable of bringing wealth to the area and the entire community living there. Sustainability is already among the most important words that guide the production of unique and authentic wines.

2002

The first white wine (Ficiligno 2001) and the first red wine, (Ramione 2000) are produced, both symbols of great expressiveness and the result of the union between Sicilian and French winemaking traditions.

2002

The new wine cellar is inaugurated: the only one of its kind, completely sustainable and with vertical development currently capable of producing over 900,000 bottles a year of excellent wines that are born and developed in the vineyard.

2014

The Viafrancia project is born: “A French imprint on Sicilian land” (Quote by Count Paolo Marzotto).

(Cit. Conte Paolo Marzotto).

2019

The first two vintages would be subsequently presented in 2019, with Viafrancia Bianco 2016 and Viafrancia Rosso 2014.

2023

Grégoire Desforges, the grandson of Count Marzotto, takes over the helm of the winery, fully embracing the philosophy of excellence and eco-sustainability, with the aim of continuing to produce high-altitude wine that expresses all the nuances of a unique terroir.

2024

The new company vision leads to the choice of concentrating the vineyard only in the areas of Contrada Pianetto and Piana degli Albanesi, expanding production near the Portella della Ginestra memorial, with lands reaching 900 meters of altitude, giving life to a new concept of high-altitude wine.

THE BAGLIO DI PIANETTO WINE ESTATE

In the municipality of Santa Cristina Gela, in the province of Palermo, Tenuta Baglio di Pianetto is located in a suggestive hilly amphitheater that reaches an altitude, unusual for Sicily, of just over 900 meters above sea level. For this reason, it enjoys particular climatic conditions that, combined with an extraordinary variety of soil, give the grapes a unique aromatic profile.

On the 106 hectares of vineyards cultivated on high ground, there is the ancient family home transformed into an elegant hospitality center and an innovative vertically developed wine cellar intended for production, where private visits and introductory wine courses are organized.

VIAFRANCIA

This selection interprets the essence of the territory and its oenological vocation, highlighting the qualities of a specific micro-zone linked to a single road, Via Francia (which takes its name from the Via Francigena), where the Baglio di Pianetto winery is located. The emblematic name is almost a sign of destiny if we consider the family’s connection with France.

In purezza

This is our selection of monovarietal wines, the result of grapes that only come from a specific vine to obtain a product that we consider authentic and genuine, capable of maintaining particular gustatory and aromatic characteristics dictated by the terroir.
